ER-DP: Benefits Beyond Platelet Inhibition

ER-DP: Benefits Beyond Platelet Inhibition
Extended-release dipyridamole (ER-DP)
- Enhances the antithrombotic and anti-atherosclerosis effect on the vessel wall once available in sufficiently high plasma concentrations (i.e. it may restore endothelial dysfunction caused by vascular disease)
- DP is poorly solubilised in conditions of reduced gastric acidity frequently found in elderly patients or patients taking gastric acid suppressant medication
- The extended-release formulation provides reliable plasma concentrations
- The ASA dose in ER-DP is sufficient to block platelet aggregation
